9/13/17 - Former trust worker accused of failings

A WOMAN who worked as a speech and language therapist is facing allegations she showed a lack of competence when dealing with more than a dozen patients.

Kirsty Gull was employed by The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust.

At a hearing next week by the Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service she is due to be accused of more than 50 failings involving 15 patients.

Allegations include not assessing a patient's communication skills, not adequately communicating with a number of patients and making recommendations regarding a patient's diet that were not based upon her assessment of the patient.

Hospital She is also accused of not adequately documenting her assessment of a patient and not correctly interpreting clinical information from medical notes.

She was employed at the hospital trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital, from January 5 to October 15, 2015.

A speech and language therapist provides treatment, support and care for children and adults who have difficulties with communication, or with eating, drinking and swallowing. Patients can be referred by anyone, including the person themselves or a relative or carer.

A spokesman for the Dudley Group NHS Trust said: "Kirsty Gull was employed by The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust between January and October 2015. She no longer works for the trust."

Miss Gull was not available for comment.
